The Book of Isaiah
Chapter 56
1Thus says YHWH:
Keep justice and do righteousness,
for my salvation is near to come,
and my righteousness to be revealed.
2Blessed is the mortal who does this,
and the son of man who holds fast to it,
who keeps the Sabbath from profaning it,
and keeps his hand from doing any evil.
3And let not the foreigner who has joined himself to YHWH say,
"YHWH will surely separate me from His people";
and let not the eunuch say,
"Behold, I am a dry tree."
4For thus says YHWH:
To the eunuchs who keep my Sabbaths,
and choose what I delight in,
and hold fast to my covenant,
5I will give to them in my house and within my walls
a monument and a name
better than sons and daughters;
an everlasting name I will give to him,
that shall not be cut off.
6And the foreigners who join themselves to YHWH
to minister to Him and to love the name of YHWH,
to be to Him for servants,
every one who keeps the Sabbath from profaning it
and holds fast to my covenant,
7I will bring them to my holy mountain
and make them joyful in my house of prayer;
their burnt offerings and their sacrifices
shall be for acceptance upon my altar;
for my house shall be called
a house of prayer for all the peoples.
8Declares the Lord YHWH,
who gathers the outcasts of Israel:
I will gather still more to him,
in addition to his gathered ones.
9All beasts of the field, come,
come to devour, all beasts in the forest!
10His watchmen are blind — all of them, they do not know;
all of them are mute dogs, unable to bark,
dreamers, lying down, lovers of slumber.
11And the dogs are greedy of appetite, they do not know satisfaction;
and they are shepherds who have no understanding.
All of them have turned to their own way,
each to his own gain, every last one.
12"Come, let me get wine,
and let us drink our fill of strong drink;
and tomorrow shall be like this,
great, exceedingly more!"
