The Book of Isaiah

Chapter 15

1Burden of Moab:
For in a night Ar of Moab is devastated,
it is silenced;
for in a night Kir of Moab is devastated,
it is silenced.
2He has gone up to the house, and Dibon,
to the high places, for weeping;
over Nebo and over Medeba
Moab wails.
Upon all its heads — baldness;
every beard — is cut off.
3In its streets they have girded on sackcloth;
upon its rooftops and in its broad places
all of it wails,
going down in weeping.
4And Heshbon cries out, and Elealeh,
as far as Jahaz their voice is heard;
therefore the armed men of Moab raise a shout,
his soul trembles for him.
5My heart for Moab cries out;
its fugitives — as far as Zoar, a three-year-old heifer.
For the ascent of Luhith,
in weeping he goes up on it;
for the road of Horonaim,
a cry of shattering they raise.
6For the waters of Nimrim — desolations they shall be;
for grass is dried up,
tender grass has come to an end,
green thing there is not.
7Therefore the abundance he has made
and what is laid up for them,
over the Wadi of the Willows
they carry them.
8For the cry has encircled the border of Moab,
as far as Eglaim, its wailing,
and Beer-elim, its wailing.
9For the waters of Dimon are full of blood,
for I shall set upon Dimon added things:
for the escapees of Moab — a lion,
and for the remnant of the land.
