The Book of Isaiah

Chapter 35

1The wilderness and the dry land shall be glad,
and the desert plain shall rejoice,
and it shall blossom like the crocus.
2It shall surely blossom,
and it shall rejoice, indeed with rejoicing and singing.
The glory of Lebanon is given to it,
the splendor of Carmel and Sharon.
They shall see the glory of YHWH,
the splendor of our God.
3Strengthen weak hands,
and feeble knees make firm!
4Say to the fearful of heart:
"Be strong, do not fear!
Behold, your God,
vengeance comes, divine recompense!
He comes and will save you."
5Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened,
and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.
6Then the lame shall leap like a deer,
and the tongue of the mute shall sing for joy.
For waters shall burst forth in the wilderness,
and streams in the desert plain.
7And the burning sand shall become a pool,
and the thirsty ground springs of water.
In the haunt of jackals, its resting-place,
grass, reeds, and rushes.
8And a highway and a way shall be there,
and the Way of Holiness it shall be called.
The unclean shall not traverse it,
and it [shall be] for them,
the one walking the way,
and fools shall not go astray.
9No lion shall be there,
and no ravenous beast shall go up on it,
it shall not be found there.
And the redeemed shall walk [there].
10And the ransomed of YHWH shall return,
and shall come to Zion with singing,
and everlasting joy upon their heads.
Gladness and joy shall overtake them,
and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.
